INTO THE WEEDS

Deeper thoughts on what we believe

THE EPHRIAMITE ERROR

A position paper by Dr. Kay Silberling-Smith, Dr. Dan Juster, and David Sadaca.

Despite the supposedly sincere nature of the Hebrew Roots movement, formerly known as the "Ephraimites", there is a subtle yet consequential error. Dr. Silberling-Smith (Et al.) addresses the flaws in this paper.

FFOZ & ONE LAW (TORAH ECHAT)

We at The Star in the East teach the "One Law" doctrine; that the words and commands of Torah apply equally to all who choose to be Covenant Believers in Yeshua. Because of this, along with other (may we add alarming) stances on the mystical, we as a congregation do not affirm the work of First Fruits of Zion and advise not engaging in their content.

We recommend TorahResource (Tim Hegg & C.M. Hegg) if you want equivalent material.

ONE ISRAEL BOOK

by Michael Humphrey, Rabbi at Rosh Pinah Congregation in Bath (Akron), OH:

"One Israel invites you on a journey back to the origins of faith through the lens of the Scriptures, tracing God's redemptive plan from creation to the coming Messianic Kingdom. Along the way, it challenges assumptions, examines historical developments, and explores the covenant framework that has always connected Jew and Gentile within the purposes of God."

Rabbi Oyler and we as a congregation both highly endorse this book!

COMMUNITY EMUNOT

As we put forward our stances expressed in the above article, especially sharing it with other local Rabbis and Messianic Pastors, we felt led to begin drafting a paper stating what we DO believe as a community...kind of like a "Messianic, Covenant Community Creed"
